Apa Hugo

Apa Hugo is uncertain of when he was born but he was born in Kangri Village, Gembo District in Simbu Province. He completed his Grade 7 at Kundiawa High School. The world-renown artist Mathias Kauage introduced Apa to painting in 1988. “ My art depicts legends and stories from my area and from Moresby life. They are folk stories. Before I was too lazy to do anything, but now I enjoy painting and have money in my pocket.”
